Ancient Greek Business In Italy

Archaeologists have unearthed a large shopping area during archaeology excavations on the Italian island of Sicily, which they say dates back to ancient Greek.



A team of archaeologists from the University of Bonn have discovered one of the most important ancient Greek districts of artisans in Sicily for two programs of the archaeology excavation.

Experts believe that the site earlier in the Greek colony of Selinunte 3 to 7 century BC, Science Daily reported.

Headed by Prof. Dr. Martin Bentz, the project is implemented in cooperation with the Italian authorities and the German Archaeological Institute is to study the daily life of ancient cities.

The first team identified some of the ceramics of Selinunte, which were abundant on the edge of the shadow of a solution to the city wall.

Archaeologists claim that the existing ceramics in the same place during the early phase of the city in the 6th century BC.

"To what extent the ancient Greeks already something like" commercial areas "has been debated among experts until now," said research associate, and Bonn, the archaeologist Dr. Gabriel Zuchtriegel coordinating the project.
