Ravenscroft Archaeology Dig
The College of William & Mary and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation have been running a field school in Williamsburg for 25 years. This season's archaeology excavations are centered on the Ravenscroft lot, which includes the buried remains of structures dating from the 1720s to the early 20th century. For more info, see this interview with Colonial Williamsburg Foundation staff archaeologist Andrew Edwards: http://www.archaeology.org/online/int...
Archaeology excavation is best known and most commonly used within the science of archaeology. In this sense it is the exposure, processing and recording of archaeological remains.
