NMSU anthropology students in Bill Walker's native ceramics class are using archaeological tools to archaeology excavation an 800 year old pueblo in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Walker, at left, explains where a pit used to be. Pits such as these in pueblo homes from the El Paso Era could be used to store food or other valuables.
Archaeology excavation is best known and most commonly used within the science of archaeology. In this sense it is the exposure, processing and recording of archaeological remains.
