Shakespeare's First Theatre - Archaeological Excavation of the Site


An archaeologist from the Museum of London talks about the findings on the site in Shoreditch of London's first purpose-built playhouse, called "The Theatre". This was built in 1576 (by James Burbage) and Shakespeare wrote and performed at "The Theatre" between 1594-7. © The Tower Theatre Company.
